Iran.com currently on Auction

Published by Steve under General

itehran.jpg

The price of prime geo domains continues to rise as the geo domain niche gains traction in this industry.  Prices will continue to soar as the industry unfolds and geopreneurs develop their properties into small empires.  If geo domains are selling for this amount without content, what will they sell for once they are content revenue generating machines?  The sky is the limit with geo domains.  Another prime geo domain on auction is kosovo.com for $1,162,259.  (via domainnews.com)

With just over four days to go for the auction of iran.com at Sedo, the current asking price is US$735,000.

Whoever ends up with the domain can only lead to a tidy profit for the current owner - they bought the domain name for US$400,000 in only July 2007.

And iran.com was the 24th highest price paid for a domain name in 2007, of the publicly reported sales anyway, according to domainblog.co.uk and Domain Name Journal.

The reserve has been met and the auction has attracted one bidder to date. Currently iran.com, from where I am now in Germany, displays sex and lifestyle related advertising!

GeoDomain News: A Year In Review

Published by Steve under General

logowhite.gif

2007 opened the doors to the Geo domain niche for many new domainers.  In 2008, we will see this Niche go main stream and grow into its own entity within the domain industry.  This article is from AssociatedCities.com.

(via associatedcities.com)

CHICAGO – As we wrap up a transformational and historic year for the GeoDomain industry, Associated Cities takes a look back at a few of our favorite stories and interviews in 2007. Of course, this is only an appetizer of things to come. We’ll see you in 2008!

After an industry-defining conference in Chicago in 2006, expectations were high for the 2007 GeoDomain Expo in San Francisco. Expectations were met as GeoDomain owners, Internet executives, investors and other powers that be converged for three days of education, entertainment and dealmaking at the W Hotel.

If you missed the conference or wish to relive your favorite memories, here is complete coverage.

Among the best events of the year for GeoDomainers and domainers at large is T.R.A.F.F.I.C. In 2007, Michael and David Castello of Nashville.com and PalmSprings.com attended and gave the inside scoop to Associated Cities. Check out their reports from Miami in October and New York City in June.

Finally, Borrell Associates issued a report in late 2007 indicating the incredible growth for local online advertising. To learn how this will impact the GeoDomain industry, check out our analysis.

In addition to GeoDomain industry news and analysis, Associated Cities exists to introduce you to some of the people that make the industry tick. Check out some of our best interviews of 2007.

Stay Proactive, Not Reactive

Published by Steve under General, Geopreneurs, New Domainers

Planning- to arrange a method or scheme beforehand for (any work, enterprise, or proceeding):

As a Senior Leader in the U.S. Army, this is something I consistently instill in my troopers.  I teach, mentor, and coach them to plan ahead to identify the possible problems to a task, and to provide courses of actions to prevent those problems from occuring.  Additionally, they are taught to provide solutions in advance if something does go wrong, so they can act efficiently and effectively to resolve the issue ensuring mission accomplishment, resulting in effective time management skills.  This is one example to staying proactive.

A reactive state is the opposite as above and consumes all of your time on resolving issues because of poor planning.  It will keep you focused on the 10 meter target allowing minimal growth (with horseBlinders on), while those who stay proactive are able to focus on the 50 meter target, securing unexpected opportunity, and experiencing continuous growth.

This is an essential trait in the domain industry if you want to become successful or stay successful, though most do not understand this secret.  The reason people stay successful year after year in this industry is because they consistently stay proactive and set realistic short term goals.  They do their best to prevent reactive situations from occuring and stay in a position of power persay, while those who are in the reactive state, remain vulnerable. A bad trait to be in any industry.

Those who are proactive purchase additional names to prevent competition, align strategic partnerships, make unpopular decisions ahead of their time(Such as Development, new projects), communicate with individuals, and find the neccessary sourcing to get their projects completed.  Additionally, they LISTEN to people, regardless of their stature, always looking for avenues to stay ahead.  We all know these types of people because they stick out like sore thumbs in any group of peers, whether or not we want to admit it.  The Castello Brothers are just one example of many, in this industry that continuosly stay proactive. Take a look at all the successful domainers in the industry, are they proactive or reactive? The answer is obvious.

Are you proactive or reactive?  Be honest with yourself and make the neccessary adjustments to improve your skills.

Godspeed,
Steve

The Internet Is Great!

Published by Steve under General

A week ago or so I posted about candidates running for office taking advantage of geo domains and advertising on them.  Here is an old video I stumbled across.  It is of Senator George Allen(Former) expressing his thoughts on the internet and how he was defeated largely because of it in elections.  Geo domain owners are in great positions, as they are able to tap into so many revenue streams and industries thru one domain.  There are not very many generic domains that can do the same when you really take the time to think about it.
