This week was another slow week for the geo market due to the holidays.  The geo market should pick up some traction in the upcoming months due to all of the conferences scheduled and networking opportunities that arise while attending them.

I bought thephilippines.net. I am hoping to develop a travel portal and SN site for the Philippines.

    Rich,

There are a few who like the “i” in front of a geo domain because of the branding possibilities. If this is your flavor of cream, I would recommend registering the .com and not the .net if the opportunity arises. IMO, prime geo domains should be the only names you register in .net and .org extentions. There is simply too many competitive names out there in .Com and other extentions to compete with, to make variations of prime geos. It is already hard to get a prime geo domain going, why make it harder with a second tier name if you have the control? In the end, it is not about my opinion, but about the content and branding you deliver through the developed website that will determine the true value of any domain name.

    Good luck with those Geos!
