    $2200 was a good price for Walsenburg.com

    David,

Can you elaborate on what makes Walsenburg.com a good buy at that price? I hadn’t heard of that city but then I checked out the Wikipedia entry. It looks like it has around 4-5K population, some minor attractions. As someone interested in buying some GEO domains I’m very interested in learning more about what metrics to look at when evaluating smaller cities/towns especially ones with <20K population. What kind of revenue would you expect someone to be able to make out of a GEO domain like Walsenburg.com?

    Thanks,

    Jason

When you own the city + .com you essentially, in my opinion, own that city’s name on the Internet because any direct navigation is yours. For the novice Geodomainer, buying Walsenburg.com for $2200 is a stellar deal (I’m shocked no one in Walsenburg didn’t grab it - they probably didn’t know it was for sale). How much revenue can one expect? That all depends how determined you are, but I can certainly tell you it will be more than $2200 a year. For a real estate advertising exclusive alone from a realtor you could get $100 a month. Check out the place here. There’s plenty to promote and these people and their businesses would welcome the marketing shot-in-the-arm: http://www.sangres.com/colorado/huerfano/walsenburg.htm
