Under The Weather, But I Will Get Back On The Horse

Published by Steve under Off Topic

The last couple of days I have not been feeling very well.  I think I caught a bit of the flu and I have not been at 100%.  I want to apologize for not responding to emails, the forum, and posts timely.  I will get to it soon enough.  I just got done sending a newsletter out, so if you have not signed up, make sure to do so.

It is very hard to write and concentrate when you are not 100% as you can imagine.  I have been writing part 3, How to protect your Geo Domains in sections this past week and will post it soon.  Sahar hit a key strategy the last couple of days that Skip has been preaching for many years, but many people have failed to listed.  It is better to receive 50% of a winning game plan of a developed asset, than to receive 100% of a poor game plan with limited growth.  In the end, you make much more with the right partner at 50%.  More on this subject to come.

It was definitely a stressful week for me.  I was tasked on Tuesday to organize a Military Ball for 1,000 folks with only 60 or so days left until the event, May 30.  It is definitely going to be very time consuming and stressful.  It will not be easy, but I will manage to make it a successful event, or at least I hope!

I will write a few short articles tonight so make sure to check back.  Time to take some TheraFlu medicine.

Talk soon friends and sign up for the newsletter.

Big Announcements To Come

Published by Steve under Announcements

We are going to be announcing some major developments in the upcoming weeks.  One of the announcements is going to shock the domain industry and put the geo domain industry on the map once approved.  Skip has definitely been hard at work behind the scenes.  Fractional domaining is something that has started to evolve and alot of major media groups are willing to partner with the right name.  More on that later.

We will be announcing an elite acquisition of two domains that took almost 3 months of negotiations to close.  Today we closed negotiations.  There are two good friends who assisted in making this possible.  We will announce all once the transfers have been completed.  The acquisitions will definitely give the Simplygeo network instant credibility with all major local based media companies.

Alot of people keep asking me when our services will be launched.  I am going to be honest with all of you, development of services is not easy.  It takes the right strategy and strategic partnerships to make it happen.  It takes alot of funding to get it done as well.  Some of you already know how time consuming it is and expensive.  It is not something you plug and play and hope the best for, at least not if you want longevity in the industry.  So please stay patient.  This network concept was only born 4 months ago.  Yes, I know it seems like it has been forever, but we have only been live for 4 months and have already left a footprint in the industry thanks to supporters like you.

There are some delays currently with GeoBuilder.com and the social network site.  It should not be much longer for these services to launch.  We are working on all other services, but it is definitely hard to do with so much opportunity happening on the back end.  It will all get done, it is all about timing.  Thank you for your support and patience.  Life is good!

The next big project will be GeoAuction.com.

Interview with Aaron Wall from SEOBOOK - SEO for Geo Domains Via JetFar.com

Published by Steve under General

This is a great interview from one of the legends in SEO Circles, Aaron Wall.  Aaron is best known for SeoBook.com.  Overall, this is good read to understand how you can improve your SEO for your geo domain and some key tips to having your visitors link to your site.

Although the title states Geo domains, it is not referenced in the article and the term local is used.  Still very useful information to take advantage of.  Many of the things he talks about reflects some key reasons for some of our sites being developed.  One of them being the social network site, that will give users a choice of placing a membership badge on any of their sites.

Traditional Media Still Doesn’t Have A Clue, What A Shame

Published by Steve under General

In today’s troubling times for print media, you would expect a traditional media company to take advantage of a rare opportunity to own the city.com that all their print publications cover. An opportunity of this magnitude to own your city.com brand does not fall into your lap. With such a name, your complete established network of publication profits would increase almost instantly online. This has been proven many times, with the latest example being Madison.com.

Well, it happend to fall on the lap of Oklahoma Publishing Company (OPUBCO). They own a large amount of publications in the Oklahoma City area. The domain of course was OklahomaCity.com. I am sure readers are guessing that the OPUBCO Group became motivated to discuss negotiations to acquire this elite domain. After all, there is no other domain in the world that perfectly describes the area they cover in detail.

This is the response I received from the OPUBCO Group today, “I appreciate the offer, however, we will pass at this time.”

The names you ask that delivers their complete publication network for Oklahoma City, OklahomanDirect.com, NewsOK.com, and OPUBCO.com.

There you have it, why would they need a name like OklahomaCity.com with names that are descriptive of the area like these that say it all.

I honestly had to sit back and scratch my head on this response. Is $800,00 to much to ask for a city that does $43 billion in commerce yearly?

What is missing here? I will tell you that it is education of effetive marketing on the internet and what an elite geo domain can do to exploit local advertising for your business. Traditional media continues to stay unfocused on changing times and continues to miss opportunities that will never be made available again.

Education is the only thing that will open their eyes, of course, they have to be willing to learn new things. The old ways are pretty much obsolete.

Who knows, maybe they will reconsider the acquisition of OklahomaCity.com, the key to the city for the world. :)

Google.com Still Focusing On Local Technology

Published by Steve under General

Google.com continues to deliver easy and efficient listings of popular local businesses for consumers.  It is amazing that they are the only onces staying consistently proactive in the local arena.  They have recently released an experimental mobile interface that prevents you from having to type after your initial search and list popular local categories.  If this experiment is successful, you can bet that we will find it on many cellphone platforms in the near future.  Check out the article for more.
