Realestate Geo Domain Sells For $17,500

This week, a realestate geo domain sale was completed by the Castello Brothers.  They sold JupiterIslandRealestate.com for $17,500.  As I stated before, realestate geo domains will continue to rise in value because of the quality of traffic they deliver and the potential of a $100K plus home sale delivered thru the domain.  The length of the name is immaterial to the value that these names deliver.  Location+Realestate.com domains are highly sought after by realestate agents and brokers that are figuring out how to maximize revenue streams on the internet.

The realestate industry still remains in its infancy when embracing the internet.  Sales like this occur monthly and are never reported to the domain industry.  These names will rise in value expotentially as the realestate industry adapts to new strategies the internet has to offer.  A great name like this can make a realestate agent successful and become a strong competitor in the area.   Additionally, realestate geo domains build a never ending clientel database that agents can transform when they become a realestate broker.   This investment of $17,500 for JupiterIslandRealestate.com will pay for itself with the first home sale thru the domain.  These names are great investments for both geo owners and agents/brokers.

one thing to note, there are many other industries where one sale can pay for the price of a $X,XXX geo domain.

    Well done sale. Congrats.

Good sale, could have been better!

I think these type of domains should sell for much more.Even at $100,000 for a domain, that really only equates to *8* home sales. (average commission/ 6%/average sale $200k).

…it’s really a no-brainer. By default not only does the new owner receive DN aka FREE MONEY, but they gain *instant credibility, branding and an SEO boost. If more Brokers and Agents understood the Internet and marketing they would stop buying ridiculous domains like; KellySellsEastVermont.com and JeffSmithRealtyExecutivesInc.biz…haha, it’s actually pretty funny if you think about it. If they only had a clue…

    Mr. Steve Barbey:
    BoiseRealEstate.com
    BoiseIdaho.com
    IdahoRealEstate.com
    BoiseIdaho.TV

…mentioned in our conversation buying these domains were the best business decision he ever made and the names have “paid for themselves…and now it’s all gravy.”

    He “gets it”!

Here are some past “Geo” real estate sales.

    PensacolaFloridaRealEstate.com $6,100*2004
    WashingtonDCRealEstate.com $7,055*2007
    MooreRealEstate.com $7,600*2006
    AZRealEstate.com $8,000*2005
    CaliforniaRealEstate.net $12,056*2005
    MoRealEstate.com $21,250*2006
    MarylandRealEstate.com $22,000*2006
    OklahomaRealEstate.com $25,000*2008
    LagunaBeachRealEstate.com $27,350*2006
    PasadenaRealEstate.com $44,187*2006
    BoiseRealEstate.com $50,000*2004
    VegasRealEstate.com $53,611*2005

…again, IMO, these are *great deals.

SavannahRealEstate.com is for lease; $10,000 per month.

I really don’t think there is too much type in traffic to JupiterIslandRealEstate.com

The value of this name is owning the most logical, easy to remember and straightforward domain for the category. Only one guy in town can own it.

The “one sale could pay for the name” argument is a bit tough to swallow as well, because instead of spending $17k on the name you could buy 170,000 clicks from google - there are only 6 bidders on the phrase “jupiter island real estate” at the moment.

I like the name, but it has nothing to do with type in traffic.

This simply was a good sale for all. We still have the primary geo name for the area and would have been sitting on the name for a long time. As many of you know David and I are trying to get others involved in the purchase and development of the domain industry. The person that purchased the name has never owned a domain name but felt he needed his “slice of life” in this new world. Real Estate is his passion and he attained a great name for his business, family and community.

Most of our portfolio is geo and we will continue to grow our sites into what the public expects. There are good times ahead for us all.

Wouldn’t geo law firms fall into the same category? After all, you are usually talking a large ticket sale. Additionally remembering a law firm with multiple last names is difficult.

    Steve,

Great post. Eventually, real estate agents, brokers, builders, and developers will wake-up and see the light. I recently picked up a geo-domain that represents the exact name of a very popular Florida Island.

The weird thing is that a Realtor had used this domain as a site since 2000. It’s anyone’s guess why this domain was allowed to expire?

This same Island is featured on the front cover of one of those glossy, luxury real estate magazines found at your local book store. According to the magazines ad rate info, this cover-page and a two-page spread costs over $8,000.

I recently had a telephone discussion with a “luxury real estate agent” in Miami. I was offering her an opportunity to showcase a $3 million dollar listing on a geo-site that receives great type-in traffic and has a first-page google ranking. She could not understand the value of targeted traffic.

To make matters worse, she’d spent thousands on a site that was not optimized or found in the SERPs, her domain name is horrible, and her firm continues to spend thousands per month in the newspaper classifieds….like I said, Eventually they’ll see the light.

    Jeff:
    We’ve always owned JupiterIslandRealEstate.com.
    Ernie:
Thank you, I haven’t laughed that hard all week.
    Gordon:
The name actually does some type-in (though not near as much as our JupiterIsland.com).

What my brother said is true - we own JupiterIsland.com and we were just sitting on JupiterIslandRealEstate.com. The sale was a win-win for both parties. The buyer (realtor) is going to develop the name and it will help to publicize the island. There are only about 500 homes on the island, but they are each worth millions and if he sells one he’s in the money.

The most important thing about this sale is that the name was purchased by a developer/enduser and not a reseller/speculator. And that’s good news for all category Geodomains.

    Great sale Castello Brothers, Congrats!

I know you guys have JupiterIsland.com.

I own JupiterIsland.tv and it makes me think the market there may more value than I first thought, even just for video Real Estate tours of the area.

A local person owns JupiterIslandRealestate.tv but so far nothing is online for it.

    Great sale guys!

I have a bunch of names like that, and a good sale like this only adds credibility and value for all of us! I’ll probably work on selling a few this year as well. My favorite is currently CaymanIslandsRealEstate.com.

Looking forward to seeing the postcript on this one down the road - just curious to see how many sales the buyer will be able to credit to this name in the first year or so….

When are you guys back in LB?

Cheers, DP Bob (we met at TRAFFIC Vegas)

  13. David J Castelloon 22 Apr 2008 at 21:25 pm

    CaymanIslandsRealEstate.com is an excellent name.
We’re in Laguna Beach all the time. Where are you in OC?

  14. Tim Davidson 22 Apr 2008 at 21:44 pm

Castellos…did you approach him or did the buyer find you first? Always “the” question in a sale…tia

  15. Tommy Butleron 22 Apr 2008 at 23:27 pm

    Congrats to Michael and David

    nice sale
Did i hear you say you where buying the beer. lol

  16. Michael Castelloon 23 Apr 2008 at 04:35 am

Bob, CaymanIslandsRealEstate.com is a good name and should fetch a good price when you choose to sell it. As far as leads go, our sites still get leads everyday even with a soft market. During the real estate boom, LagunaBeach.com on some days got 100 leads. Of course the MTV program by the same name didn’t hurt.

We are always in and out of Laguna Beach, more so in the summer. Send your phone number and I will try to get together for a drink or lunch sometime.

CaymanIslandsRealEstate.com is a great name! It will be interesting to see who jumps on CaymanIslandsRealEstate.TV.

It’s always interesting to see the few people who understood the value long ago. TurksAndCaicosRealEstate.com was registered in March 2000 by Christies Great Estates/Grace Bay Realty. I’ve recently received some interest from a few agents about TurksAndCaicosRealEstate.TV.

  18. David J Castelloon 23 Apr 2008 at 11:17 am

    Tim:
The buyer approached us. We never solicit people to sell a name.
