I agree with M. Menius, keep doing what your doing....a newsletter would be a great idea Steve if you have the time, but don't think for a minute you have not done your job!
There is alot involved to think of everyone and everything you already contribute... along with your everday living life.

As well...Newcomers should read as many blogs with substance, and news sites as possible...knowledge is power.
They'll need to ask questions, participate in the blogs and forums how ever relize many people have many different views, this will only come to them in time if they participate.
Newcomers will need patience alot what all the answer today so they can cash in tomorrow....it has taken me years to come to a point where I am and I don't even think I am there.

When I started part time in 1997 in the Industry with a shopping site (still own it too), taught myself HTML...
there was no blogging, news sites, newsletters.
I wanted it, I found away and I learnt it, Point period!

We all have something new to learn everday as well as different ways of looking at things a newsletter will benefit all.

I messaged Michael Castello on Synergy the other day and congratulated him on the sale of JupiterIslandRealEstate.com and mentioned I have a few CityIsandRealEstate.com names myself islands of Miami - Miami Beach he returned and answered:

"Frank, reale estate is a great vertical in the geo domain industry. One sale of a property can pay off a domain name. I am sure you will do very well with those destiations."

Steve it blew me away the 2nd time I read it.
" One sale of a property can pay off a domain name"
1) What a great selling line for the RealEstate names, and understated one at that.
2) What a Great way to evalualte the domain value!
so simple yet too obivious...
Sorry Michael, I learn I share :) and thank you again.

Time is hard to come by. Keeping updated on news, site development and partnerships, researching and participating in drops, communicating with others and making buys, and then blogging (for those who do that). Factor in family, day job, etc.

I think blogs, such as this one, are extremely valuable to both newcomers and veterans. The domain forums are very helpful, but there is highly biased information and viewpoints all over the forums that really muddy the waters. The author of a blog seems to bear a greater responsibility for factual accuracy and the filtering of one's personal views in the interest of creating unbiased and worthy dialogue.

I am pleased with SimplyGeo and come by several times per week . Find myself frequenting the blogs more than the domain discussion forums. Seems to be less noise and more substance. One of the domain forums is very contaminated with moderator bias to the point that anything other than .com gets continually put down. Exclusionary tactics are turning it into a ghost town ... while newer venues, that are well run and quality-minded, are drawing the old breed and new breed. It takes a only a few visits to determine if a forum/blog is healthy, and a worthwhile bookmark.

I agree with you M. Menius. But even blogs can be the same way and promote only one way. It is human nature and the visitor/reader has to decide what avenue is best for them to embrace. Blogs are definitely a more intimate approach to learning or observing things about an industry or subject. I try to present different angles as much as possible.

I am glad that you enjoy the blog and thank you for visiting.
