SnapNames.com has finally finalized the live and extended catalogs for the auctions that will be held at DomainFest.  I went thru the Live Catalog and there are some Geo Gems listed.  It will be interesting to see the prices they sell for, since the largest domain investors will be present under the same roof.

Those attending DomainFest, please feel free to send in updates and pictures of the conference and hot topics discussed to SimplyGeo.com for our readers.  It would greatly be appreciated by all. Especially any sale prices on the names listed.

Here are the Geodomains that will be in the live auction.  How do you think they will do?

NewYork.net                    Reserve $325,000
SouthPole.com                  Reserve $95,000
Massachusetts.net           Reserve $27,500
Oregon.net                         Reserve $27,500

NameJet.com Lowers Prices and Provides Bidding Option

I just received an email from NameJet.com.  It appears they have lowered their starting bid price to $29.00 on select names from $70.00.  This is a smart move and will increase activity on alot of  auctions.  This will allow alot of domainers to secure some good niche names at affordable prices.  Aditionally, they have given bidders the option of bidding in small increments.

Dear NameJet customer,

We appreciate your business and have listened to your comments and suggestions. Based on your feedback, we’ve recently made a number of enhancements to our Web site and bidding processes to make it even faster and easier for you to find, manage and bid on domain names.
We’ve lowered the minimum bid price on all our domains! Minimum bid pricing will now start as low as $29 on some domains. Our Pre-Release, Pending Delete and Public Auction domains will have variable starting prices. Please note, if you already have a bid on a domain at our previous minimum bid amount of $70, NameJet will automatically adjust your bid to the new minimum bid amount.
Plus, bidding increments are now even more flexible. Instead of only having the option of bidding in increment amounts–$10 for auctions less than $1,000 or $100 for auctions greater than $1,000–you can now bid any amount over the $10 or $100 minimum bid needed. If you want to place a bid of $11, $12 or any whole dollar over the minimum bid increment, you now have the option to do so.

What Happened to Iran.com on Sedo.com?

On 31 December, I posted that Iran.com was on auction at Sedo.com.  It had a solo bid of $735,000 on 31 December.  Since then, the auction has been completed but there has not been any news of Iran.com selling.  Does anyone have more info on the Iran.com listing on Sedo.com?  It is no longer listed for sale on Sedo.com when you do a search.  I would like to know what happened to the solo bidder.  Did Rick Latona pull the domain from auction?  I find it hard to believe Rick refusing to sell the name for $735,000, when it was purchased a few months earlier for $400,000.  But it could happen!

On a different note, VirginIslands.net started auction today at GreatDomains.com.

Domainfest, The Rise Of A New Conference Leader?

I received an email a few hours back with all the details for domainfest 08 and it got me to thinking.  This conference is going to be huge if it continues to recruit the top speakers in the industry to share their knowledge and continues to recruit premium generic domains for auction.  As you already know, oversee.net is co-founder of Domainfest.  Recently they acquired Moniker.com, who will be executing the Auction portion of the conference.  There will be a total of 60 speakers for the event and all will cover many different and important topics to domainers.  The names that are going to be listed on the live auction are outstanding generic domains.  I am predicting that Domainfest will break the Auction record set by previous Traffic Conferences.  Oversee.net has stacked the deck with this conference with their recent acquisition of Moniker.com.

Will Domainfest critically injure the success of the Traffic conference in February?  Will Domainfest become the number 1 conference leader in the domain industry after this conference?  Domainfest has certainly gained a large amount of interest this year.

I do not predict any auction records being set at the Traffic conference next month due to the high quality of names being offered at Domainfest.  Investors are going to spend alot of money on the premium names being offered and become somewhat short on cash by the time the Traffic conference is executed.  Take a look at the preliminary list.

Geo Domain Sales Dominate Auction

DomainTools.com held the first live auction of 2008 today.  Out of the 16 names they sold today, 10 of them were geo domains.   Most of the geo domains listed below sold for the starting price.  There was a total of 25 geo domains listed on the auction. No huge sales here, but an outstanding indicator of what is to come this year in the geo domain niche.  The trend has officially begun with a stamp of validation with geo domains dominating the first live auction of 2008.  Bigger things will come in the near future that will continue to validate this niche.  40% of the geo domains listed on the auction sold.

TampaCar.com   $2,000
 NewHavenHousing.com   $1,000
 PasadenaHousing.com   $1,000
 RichmondHousing.com   $1,000
 MadisonHousing.com  $1,000
 ArlingtonHousing.com    $1,000
 AnaheimHousing.com   $1,000

Snapnames.com Preliminary Auction List

Snapnames.com released the preliminary auction list for Domainfest 08′ and their online auction.  There are some outstanding names coming to auction, roughly 2,500 names will be auctioned live and online.  They have hundreds of prime generic domain names going up for auction and will consolidate 300-400 of the best names for the live auction.  You can take a look at the list (Here) I am predicting a huge bidding frenzy because of the quality of names.  Domainers are anxious to sink their teeth into some prime domains the beginning of 2008 to set the standard for the year.  Domainfest might set a new live auction sales record on 22-23 January.  We will have to see how this competes with the Traffic Show in February.  If Domainers and investors spend large amounts of cash flow at Domainfest, will they be as anxious to bid at the Traffic Show in February?   Once your hungar is filled, the motivation to eat fades.  Time will only tell us how things will turn out.  There are some names that fit Geo Areas, but too many names for me to go thru and research to list here.  I would like to wish all of those bidding in the Domainfest auction “Good Luck!”

Here is the release info.  You can find all the details of DomainFest (Here)

This Preliminary Catalog includes all the names we’re actively considering for our Live Auction. Over 110,000 domains were submitted. So many great names, in fact, we cannot fit them all into one event. So we are introducing an extended catalog to make sure all the very best are presented.

By January 10, this Preliminary Catalog will be divided into two auction formats.

THE LIVE AUCTION: 300-400 top names will be auctioned on January 22 and 23 at DOMAINfest Global.

THE EXTENDED AUCTION: An additional selection of remaining premium domains will be identified for an online-only auction. This special 7-day auction will run January 24 through 31.
