Published by Steve under General, Geopreneurs

SimplyGeo.com has started a chain reaction that will soon exploit this industry niche.  Tim Davids has developed the GeoOwners.com forum to discuss topics of interest to Geopreneurs.  It is brand new waiting for your comments to be added.  Additionally, it is a place to buy and sell geo domains in the same format as namepros.com and dnforum.com.

Check it out if you get a chance.

Stay Proactive, Not Reactive

Published by Steve under General, Geopreneurs, New Domainers

Planning- to arrange a method or scheme beforehand for (any work, enterprise, or proceeding):

As a Senior Leader in the U.S. Army, this is something I consistently instill in my troopers.  I teach, mentor, and coach them to plan ahead to identify the possible problems to a task, and to provide courses of actions to prevent those problems from occuring.  Additionally, they are taught to provide solutions in advance if something does go wrong, so they can act efficiently and effectively to resolve the issue ensuring mission accomplishment, resulting in effective time management skills.  This is one example to staying proactive.

A reactive state is the opposite as above and consumes all of your time on resolving issues because of poor planning.  It will keep you focused on the 10 meter target allowing minimal growth (with horseBlinders on), while those who stay proactive are able to focus on the 50 meter target, securing unexpected opportunity, and experiencing continuous growth.

This is an essential trait in the domain industry if you want to become successful or stay successful, though most do not understand this secret.  The reason people stay successful year after year in this industry is because they consistently stay proactive and set realistic short term goals.  They do their best to prevent reactive situations from occuring and stay in a position of power persay, while those who are in the reactive state, remain vulnerable. A bad trait to be in any industry.

Those who are proactive purchase additional names to prevent competition, align strategic partnerships, make unpopular decisions ahead of their time(Such as Development, new projects), communicate with individuals, and find the neccessary sourcing to get their projects completed.  Additionally, they LISTEN to people, regardless of their stature, always looking for avenues to stay ahead.  We all know these types of people because they stick out like sore thumbs in any group of peers, whether or not we want to admit it.  The Castello Brothers are just one example of many, in this industry that continuosly stay proactive. Take a look at all the successful domainers in the industry, are they proactive or reactive? The answer is obvious.

Are you proactive or reactive?  Be honest with yourself and make the neccessary adjustments to improve your skills.

Godspeed,
Steve

Merry Christmas Geopreneurs!  I wanted to share a few thoughts with you this morning.  The blog has done amazingly well during the holiday season since launching a little over a week ago.  98% of the unique visitors coming to the blog daily are typing simplygeo.com.  This tells me that visitors approve of the blog and are doing word of mouth advertising.  We have gone from 0 to approximately 28 unique visitors per day and growing.  With so many domainers and newcomers on vacation and away from their computers, this is a very good start for the geo niche.  This shows the large amount of interest in the geo domain niche.

Many people like to read the articles on blogs, but for some reason, these same people fear posting comments and opinions to blog articles.  I assume that people fear they will be ridiculed by others because of the way they think.  I would like to ask visitors to put that fear aside and please interact more in order to provide unbiased opinions, approval, disapproval, and experiences.  The true value of content delivered on any blog can only be measured by the amount of interaction from visitors.

Everyone loves to read the comments from readers on blogs, right?  That is the best part of the conversation, when it comes to blogging.  Peoples different perspectives, values, experiences, opinions and approval/disapproval of the content being delivered.  This is unconsciously used as a measuring tool for readers of the blog to assess the value of the content being delivered, right?  It also serves as a tool for the author to tweak content being delivered based on interaction and comments to provide an effective learning environment.

I have made it very easy for visitors to interact with the blog based on their personality.  Here are the 4 things you can do to interact and provide input.  They are as follows:

**Post Anonymous:  If you want to post something, but do not want people to see who it has been posted by, simply type STEALTH as the user and stealth@simplygeo.com as the email address in the comments box.  It’s that easy.  Comments will be 100% moderated to protect the integrity of the blog.

**Rate an Article:  At the top of each post is a rating system to rate the value of the content.  There are 5 stars, 1 to 5, with 5 being the best.  It is 100% discrete, and does not show who left the rating to visitors or to the authors.

**Comment on the Post:  No brainer, write your thoughts in the comments section

**Submit a Post: Write a post on a geo domain topic and email it to me for approval.  I will then post it for readers.

I thank you in advance for your future interaction with the blog.  At a minimum, please RATE every article you read.

Thank you for helping simplygeo.com grow!

Godspeed,
Steve

Geopreneur, A SimplyGeo Coined Phrase

Published by Steve under General, Geopreneurs, Niche

sterling-coins-detail.jpg

geo-pre-neur(s)   an individual who earns revenue or makes a living thru the use of a developed  geographical (Geo) domain, such as PalmSprings.com or DallasHomes.com.  Additionally, one who purchases and sells geo domains in the aftermarket.  Also referrered to as a domainer. (General discription, more to be added)

In today’s society of the “ME” trend, it is essential to meet an individuals wants and needs to be different and belong to something.  You have Youtube.com, IPOD, and Myspace.com that fill this need daily.  Almost everyone in the domain industry who owns 5 or more names is called a domainer.  A domainer is a general word used to identify an individual who purchases and sells domains. In addition, an individual who earns revenue utilizing their portfolio of domains thru PPC. That is the general overview of the term anyway.

AssociatedCities.com and city.com owners exploited the geo niche with the GeoDomain Expo over the past 2 years.  This niche will continue to grow and it is essential for a term to be created to distinguish an individuals passion in the domain industry whether part time or full time from the general term domainer.

Please add your definition of what the term should mean in the comments section. How often do you get a chance to be apart of branding a term for an industry? I will complile all the data and create a variety of definitions. Then I will set up a poll for readers to vote on.  The winning definition will be submitted to wikipedia and other internet outlets to brand the term geopreneur on the internet.

Take part in your industry Geopreneurs!

Thank you for your help,
Steve
